What a great summer! What's Autumn got for us?
So it was the first day of Autumn yesterday.
The summer has been fantastic fun, playing a few weddings, some festivals and in pubs and venues.
The highlight of the Summer was playing at the Y-Not Festival near Matlock, Derbyshire. I’ve been lucky enough to play there a few times in recent years. This year was great as I had David Sattar on drums and had Motormouf on to guest on a couple of songs. That I also got to watch Ash, Snoop Dogg, and Super Furry Animals was also great.
Some of the weddings, private parties and shows I’ve performed at have been a lot of fun and are a huge part of the reason that I love the summer months.
So with the nights drawing in I am looking forward to playing in some pubs and venues – hopefully in some new venues too.
One of these new venues is Barnacles Restaurant near Hinckley, Leicestershire. It looks like a lovely setting for a gig so I'm really looking forward to that on 30th September. I hope to be playing some songs with former "Kids in Cars" drummer Jon Freeman on percussion - just for a bit of fun really!
I have started to host an open mic night at the Red Lion in Repton, Derbyshire. Every Sunday 6-9pm. Last Sunday was fantastic and its nice to have a regular event to try new material out at whilst enjoying other performances
I’m happy to announce that I will be carrying on with the “Steven Faulkner Music Presents” events which are based at Karns Bar in Hinckley Leicestershire. Already I have confirmed some brilliant bands and artists such as The Hudson Super Six, Alright The Captain, The Procession, Matt Henshaw, Yakobo, Confyde, Motormouf, and Siobhan Mazzei which sees the event booked up until February. Great news.
For my original music project and for my cover and loop pedal act I am making strides into playing further afield than ever this year. I have already played in South Wales and North Eastern England this year as well as the Midlands so am hoping to hit these wider areas more often.
Always on the lookout to stay busy!
