A Review of the last week or so
So how’s it going?
Not too badly – thanks for asking!
Since I turned full time I have been keeping busy playing lots of shows at new and old venues, and also trying to make inroads into playing new areas.
Seven Bar & Restaurant – Derby
I played here on a Sunday lunchtime. A lovely restaurant I have to say it was a really enjoyable venue to play at…..especially as they fed me! That’s ALWAYS a bonus!
Open Mic @ The Red Lion – Repton
A new evening I have been running. There have been some fantastic musicians coming to this including Moore & Moore Beer, Sue Woollard, and Annabelle Bartram to name just a few. It’s a really talented and supportive group of performers which is a really nice thing to see.
This was a lot of fun. A Wednesday evening burger & lobster night. It was a great chance to try my new P.A. system and loop pedal. In fact it went so well I played an extra set! The only downside was that I saw some fantastic looking food going around – I had a subway for tea haha
A Night Off
The Hudson Super Six – one of Derby’s finest bands played at The Venue in Derby so I went down to see them. Absolutely brilliant performance – if QOTSA tried 50s rock & roll then theyd still be nowhere near as good as these guys
Karns Open Mic
This was the 1st time I had hosted an open mic at Karns….since 2008! I wasn’t sure how the night would go s armed myself with a good long set list just in case. I needn’t have worried. Lots of players turned up and we went from 9pm tiil 2am just jamming and having a lot of fun with members of the public taking vocal duties (once they’d had a few beers!)
The White Swan
Another new venue for me. It’s a beautiful pub based out near Burton on Trent. The only problem we had was a clash with the England Vs Australia Rugby World Cup match. So with a little rearranging of times I still played and as usual it was a thoroughly enjoyable gig to play & hopefully I’ll be back ther
